I invented a new rule yesterday in time for my birthday today. For two days either side of your birthday you are allowed to eat anything you can find in the kitchen, even if it’s not your food or your kitchen.

It’s all about the great small venues of the UK, no big aircraft hangers, just the best little cauldrons of atmosphere I know, from the top of Scotland to the corner of Devon.
I’ll be on my own this time too – a chance to play new songs you’ve never heard and old songs like you’ve never heard them.
Two deserve a special mention. We didn’t find the right gigs in Bath and Birmingham, so rather than ignore those places, I just decided to hire the venues myself.
That does mean there’s no-one locally to encourage people to come along though, and we’ll need to book some really good support acts. So if you fancy helping with those or any other dates on the list then send me an email. You’ll get in for free and it’ll make the gigs so much better.

I know there are some big places missing. Sit tight Glasgow! I’m arranging a special Scotland tour for straight after this one’s finished. Sorry if I’m not playing near you this time (sorry rest of the world…). This is the best we can do for now.
In the meantime I’ve got songs to finish recording. The first one will be released just before the tour so you can hear what I’ve been up to in my illicit cave of songwriting.
Plus I want to go boating on a lake somewhere today cos the weather’s nice.
The gigs are only little, so do grab tickets early if you want to be sure of getting in. Have a wonderful summer,
