2013 UK Tour Blog

The tour ended last night under a mirrorball in Edinburgh. 27 dates in 6 weeks around the UK and I can honestly say it’s been one of the best experiences of my life.

Sorry I’ve not blogged more – I’ve been totally solo this tour, and managing myself is a full time job!

But playing solo has really rejuvenated me, made me feel musically free in a very important way, and I feel grounded as I go into a new phase of recording and playing with the band again next year.

A good handful of the gigs officially sold out and a load more were full or proper choc-a-blok-man, but even the odd quiet gigs were ones to cherish and had a great atmosphere. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAME TO A GIG.

Although the venues were generally small, it still amounts to a good couple of thousand people who came out to see me on this tour. We are not alone!

I’ve also fed reindeer…

And handled snakes…

I’ve slept in hotels, B&Bs, inns and bunkhouses, on sofas, spare beds, blow up beds, pull out beds and bunk beds, on a boat and on the floor of a gift shop. Thank you to everyone who helped me not die in the cold.

I’ve played with some really talented support acts too, much love to you all on your musical adventures. I hope we all find what we’re looking for, which may or may not be playing ‘My Lovely Horse’ from that episode of Father Ted…

I’m going to turn my phone off for a few days and unwind, then I’ll continue trying to make 2014 a year for releasing a great album I really believe in, I hope it’s a really good year for you too.

Keep in touch. Wishing you much happiness

  1. Had a great time at the Black Swan in York and since then a few others have played your album and will come to see you next time. Would love to see you come to the Galtres Festival north of York which is on the August Bank Holiday weekend next year, you would fit in really well with the vibe and the different types of bands that play there http://www.galtresfestival.org.uk/ Best wishes on the new album and see you next year!
